HCM City
I am now in HCM city which is much bigger than any of the other towns and more city like. Its boiling hot which is not great for sight seeing, but we are managing. We sarrived at 4.30am on Thursday and couldnt get into our hotel rooms so our tour guide took us to the backpackers area for an early breakfast. It was very interesting being sat next to a burst sewer and a prostitute ring and a very wierd guy sat with some very young girls!!!
My birthday was nice, we went to the Cho Chi tunnels, its amazing how the Viet Cong lived and fought so hard and very intelliegntly which is surprising in the circumstances.
We ate in an street market which was really good, we got to bbq our own food, although half of the menu was rats tail and goats penis! we just had beef and the group got me a chocolate cake - yum yum (which we cant say out here as it means horny in Viet) . We all went out to the ozzie bar next door and played some pool (i won a game but i think it was mainly down to James).
Today we have been to the water park, a very wierd experience as its was all locals who were totally covered up as they dont like darker skin. We just had our bikinis on and they were all laughing and staring at us. Nat and I got bullied on the laxy river, they blocked the water under the bridge and then splashed us loads then pushing Nat in and stole her ring. It was all very scary. Just imagin it that happened to an asian girls in the UK, all hell would break loose. Anyway we put up with the abuse for a bit then came back. We have the last dinner tonight before Jess leaves for home. But the other 2 ozzies and James & I are booked on a 3 day tour to the Mekong Delta, and then James and I go on a boat up to Cambodia.
I hope all is well with everyone at home.
lots of love jenxx
